Lubec and Campabello

The past weekend was great weather, packed up the cameras and headed east. Drove from the house to Lubec to catch the West Quaddy Head Light house there. If you have never been, you need to go. It is an amazing place. Not just for photography but just to take a beautiful day and walk along the miles and miles of trails that they have to offer. This past weekend was only in the low 30's and there was a breeze so it was chilly, I am definitely going to go there again this summer and take advantage of the trails.

I did get some decent shots of the light house. However, I was sort of rushed because I wanted to go over to Campabello Island and catch the East Quaddy Light House there. This time of year the sun does not stay in the sky too long and it is about a 2 1/2 drive from the house.

I think some of the best pictures I took was on Campabello Island and of the sea gulls. I came up on this cove when I was driving and there were literally hundred of gulls on the shore and just in the water. I grabbed the camera and started shooting. It was amazing how many gulls there were as you can see by the pictures in my scenic gallery.

All together I think I saw about 6 bald eagles during the day, however, I was not able to catch a good shot of any of them. This summer is going to be fantastic if I can get back there and see some more.

I posted about 17 pictures to my scenic gallery from my trip. I am going to post more, but just have to sort through them and make sure they are quality. Make sure you check out all the photos.

A Beautiful Day

Saturday the 13th was just increadible weather. For Mid November here in Maine to get a 50+ day with no wind and abundant sunshine was amazing. I grabbed my camera and backpack and headed out in the car and headed for the coast. I went through Belfast, Camden, Rockland and Owls Head and then took the Envoy to the top of Mount Battle in Camden for the sunset on the way back. For those of you who have never been to the top of Mount Battle, you really are missing out. It is absolutely beautiful up there looking down on Camden Harbor, on a clear day such as yesterday, you can see for miles and miles and all the little Islands in Penobscot bay, Blue Hill, and all the surrounding towns. I have posted a picture on the web site of Camden from the view. I have also posted 18 or so pictures from my day out traveling. I took a couple hundred but these are the best ones I think. They are on my web site under Scenic.

Keep your eyes open to what nature can offer you. Every moment past is gone forever, capturing that moment to share with others is amazing.

Another weekend

The weekend weather is going to be fantastic! I have the camera's ready and I am going to be headed out in a little bit to travel around some to see some sites. I will probably be going down the coast a little this weekend, around the Belfast, Camden and Rockland area. Who knows however where the wheel may turn. I took some photos last weekend but nothing of any consequence. It was cold and cloudy and windy and some rain so the pictures did not have much contrast or interest.

It has been a long week working and not being able to get out. The weeks are going to get even longer however for the next few months but, during winter there are always opportunities for some nice pictures. Right now with the leaves gone, the ground turning brown and everything is just waiting for snow cover, it is pretty bland and you have to be creative. One thing however, it sure beats the hell out of working no matter what the conditions are.

Keep your camera ready and your eyes open and you will always find somthing to share with the world.

New Projects

Not really much happend over the weekend. The weather was cold and cloudy and rained. I was able to get out and snap a few pictures of a waterfall by a lake. I had been going through withdraw's, it had been about a week since I had taken a picture. I will be posting the pictures I did take to my website. There was a couple of waterfall shots and some fall cat-tails by the lake that were nice.

I am going to be starting a new project soon of Black and White. I have always found that winter is a fantastic time to do b+w shots. You can really get some dramatic effects if you look for them. Black and white are such a natural medium to work with. Some of the best photographs of all time are b+w.

If you hear of any events going on or know a nice location or have any ideas for a nice photograph, let me know, I am always looking. Some of the nicest photographs are of everyday and simple things, you just have to keep your eyes open.

Remember, a moment in time once past is lost forever, but a photograph captures that moment and saves it for other to enjoy and experiance it with you.

First day for the Blog and Calendar

Well this is my first post to my new blog. It has taken a few hours to figure out how to set this up along with my calendar but I think it will be well worth it to the business. This way now it will be much easier for my customers to be able to contact me, set appointments, or just basically see what is going on. If anything it will really keep me organized. Trying to run two businesses is going to be tough, however, with the photography business panning out, maybe someday I can just do something that I am passionate about.
